A Word from Rev. Shawn |
August 27, 2008 Hello Fellowshippers “Retreat” This week Unity’s offices are closed while we are taking a retreat. Thirty-four of us are journeying together into unknown territory. We are retreating from the day to day adventures that have become familiar to us. Webster’s defines retreat as “an organized group withdrawal from regular activities for contemplation or the development of closer relationships.” By taking this group withdrawal we are risking a radical change in our thinking. That is the point of a retreat—to take a chance to change our thinking alongside other Truth seekers and finders. Who are your mighty companions that you seek Truth alongside? Who would you retreat with? Who are you retreating with already? Who do you have lunch with? Who do you have dinner with? What do you talk about on these mini-retreats? Do you seek to know your highest self on your retreats? Do you seek to know the highest in others on your retreats? When you seek your respite in a restaurant, a hiking trail, or simply in the Jacuzzi, is your talk filled with the possibilities of God, or what is wrong with everybody else? Or even what is wrong with anybody else? Or even what is wrong with yourself? Do you set an intention for your retreats? Our church retreat is called “Rolling Away the Stone”. Our intention is to remove the limited thoughts that currently block the mighty resurrection of our God-selves. If you don’t have a retreat planned with a group already-create one. Find a mighty companion or two, set your intention to know God better and then find a place to meet for a specific amount of time. Make it a true celebration of yourselves as God beings. You could have several retreats with each of you planning one. Congratulations on this next step of your spiritual journey. Yahoo, Shawn
